Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that the closed section of the Piccadilly line between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge will reopen later this month, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
Richard Jones, director of asset performance delivery for TfL, stated that essential repair work has had to be completed to ensure that the trains continue to operate safely and reliably ahead of new Piccadilly line trains being introduced.
The delays and disruption on the Piccadilly line have been attributed to recent weather conditions causing leaf fall damage, affecting the older train fleet's wheels and motors.
TfL plans for 13 weekends of partial closures along the Piccadilly line until the end of June this year, leading to more expected disruptions in the coming months.
