In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a significant fire broke out in a block of flats in Upper Norwood, south London, prompting a swift response from approximately 60 firefighters. They managed to rescue ten individuals from the upper floors using ladders, while the Metropolitan Police assisted in evacuating another six residents from the lower level. Six of those rescued required hospital treatment. The fire brigade received the first emergency call at 3.33am and had the situation under control by around 5.10am, with ongoing investigations into the fire's cause.
