In a proactive approach, two Metropolitan Police officers observed Sofian Hadar attempting to steal a mobile phone from a tourist, leading to his swift apprehension.
The incident was captured on video, showing the quick response of the undercover officers who were actively searching for thieves in the area.
Hadar, a 23-year-old from Cricklewood Broadway, pleaded guilty to theft and received an 11-month prison sentence at Isleworth Crown Court.
The victim, a heart surgeon visiting from Egypt, had his stolen phone returned to him thanks to the timely intervention of the police.
