This helped to reduce the amount of nitrogen dioxide (NO2), a toxic gas, in outer London by an estimated 2.7 per cent to 4.4 per cent, up to double that predicted, leading to cleaner air for about five million more Londoners.
The Ulez expansion to outer London achieved a 13% reduction in nitrogen oxides emissions from cars, a 7% reduction from vans, and a 22% decrease in car exhaust emissions of PM2.5 particulates, surpassing expectations in improving air quality.
