Tube and rail fares in London to rise by 4.6% in March to fund key projects'

London's mayor, Sadiq Khan, has announced a 4.6% increase in tube and rail fares, which mirrors the rise in regulated train fares on mainline railways.

Khan noted that the fare increase is essential to secure funding for important transport projects, although the DfT clarified that fare hikes weren't a condition for budget funds.

Despite the fare increase, Khan revealed that bus and tram fares would be frozen at £1.75 for unlimited journeys within an hour, illustrating his commitment to affordable transit.

Mayor Sadiq Khan emphasized his record of making TfL fares more affordable and fairer for Londoners, including the introduction of the Hopper bus fare.
