In the early hours of Saturday, a five-storey hostel in London caught fire, trapping around 20 guests and tourists. Police responded quickly, encountering dense smoke in the basement and floors above. Officers, including Sergeant Pete Day and PC Luke Uzzell, worked diligently to tackle the flames and ensure all occupants were evacuated. Despite the dangerous conditions, their efforts led to the safe rescue of everyone involved, who subsequently received medical care from paramedics at the scene.
Upon arrival, officers were met with thick smoke which had filled the entire basement level and was rising and spreading to the floors above.
Police sergeant Pete Day tackled the fire with extinguishers, while PC Luke Uzzell forced entry to all of the rooms in the smoke filled basement to ensure nobody was trapped.
