A new wetland habitat in Clapham Common aims to enhance biodiversity and offer children hands-on experiences with nature, nurturing their understanding of local ecology.
The project will convert 1,000 square metres of Clapham Common into a wetland area, featuring underground shelters and a viewing platform for children to engage with wildlife.
Gareth James, Chair of Wild Clapham, emphasizes how accessible wetlands can educate children on ecology, helping them appreciate local flora and fauna through experiential learning.
The wetland initiative led by Joel Ashcroft is set to foster local biodiversity by attracting frogs, newts, and other critters, with a completion target by spring 2025.
