Eyewitness footage captured the dramatic moment of the explosion that caused extensive damage to the terraced house on Ley Street, sending debris flying into the street and affecting nearby vehicles.
Station commander Darren McTernan stated, 'Firefighters worked hard to bring this fire under control. Crews will remain on scene throughout the evening as the situation develops and to ensure safety.'
The cause of the fire remains under investigation; however, it was reported that following a gas explosion, the building's roof was destroyed and significant damage occurred to the surrounding properties.
The London Fire Brigade deployed eight fire engines and 60 firefighters to the scene, utilizing a 32-metre turntable ladder to fight the fire and a drone team for aerial support.
