The 45th London Marathon, taking place on April 27, 2025, is set to possibly break the participation record, exceeding New York's 55,646 finishers. Over 1.3 million individuals have completed the event since its inception in 1981, which originally saw only 6,255 finishers. Hugh Brasher, the CEO, noted this year's significance, calling Marathon Day a celebration of community and perseverance, where participants raise millions for charity while experiencing the iconic 26.2-mile course from Greenwich to Buckingham Palace.
In its 45th year, more than 56,000 people are expected to sprint, run and jog the route from Greenwich to Buckingham Palace on April 27.
