Transport for London has allocated approximately 1 million to create designated parking for dockless e-bikes and e-scooters, addressing the growing issue of improper parking and safety concerns for pedestrians.
TfL's initiative includes creating 800 designated bays along renowned routes by next summer, with a goal of establishing 3,000 bays by the end of 2026 to ease parking issues.
Despite the measures, concerns remain about the regulation of rental e-bikes and e-scooters, especially in central London, which Mayor Sadiq Khan likened to the Wild West due to abandoned vehicles.
With more than 30,000 dockless e-bikes already in London, the need for regulation and designated parking has become urgent, urging TfL to take a pragmatic approach to enforcement.
