TfL prepares for major Tram upgrade with improved accessible trams
Briefly

The fleet of 24 new trams ordered by TfL aims to offer a more comfortable and reliable service with modern features such as air-conditioning and mobile charging points.
Subject to funding, the new trams will begin to enter service in the late 2020s, replacing the oldest trams in the fleet which are nearly 25 years old.
TfL’s Director of Capital Delivery Infrastructure highlighted the significance of this step, emphasizing the improvement in customer experience with the next generation of trams.
Four manufacturers have been shortlisted for the tram contract, with an option to extend for additional trams that will replace those introduced in 2012.
