Somerset House fire: Relief as art gallery reopens
Briefly

The Courtauld Gallery at Somerset House reopened after a fire, sparking worries about artwork safety, but thankfully no valuable art was damaged during the blaze.
Jonathan Reekie, director of Somerset House Trust, reassured that the area where the fire occurred—primarily offices and storage—did not house any valuable artefacts or artworks.
Witnesses, including a family visiting from Washington, expressed their sadness over the fire, but relief followed when they learned that the iconic art was unharmed.
The fire broke out in the west wing of the building, utilized mainly for administrative purposes, at around noon on Saturday, igniting concerns throughout the community.
