Fire crews have tackled a blaze caused by solar panels at a Sainsbury's store in Sutton today (August 20). The incident led to a temporary store closure.
The fire started when a solar panel inverter on the roof of a multi-level commercial building and warehouse caught fire, prompting the response of three fire engines and 15 firefighters.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade confirmed: 'Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters are tackling a fire on High Street in Sutton. The fire has now been extinguished.'
A Sainsbury's spokesperson stated: 'The store was temporarily closed this morning while fire services attended an incident. The store has now reopened and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.'
