Sheffield United sign Holding and Nwachukwu
Briefly

Sheffield United has strengthened its squad by signing defender Rob Holding on loan from Crystal Palace and Nigerian winger Christian Nwachukwu from Botev Plovdiv. Holding, previously with Arsenal, joins due to central defensive shortages caused by injuries. Manager Chris Wilder praised Holding's experience, hoping to improve the backline. Nwachukwu, identified through a new data-driven transfer strategy, signed a contract until 2027. Wilder expressed excitement about this new approach, showing the club's willingness to adapt and explore innovative methods in player recruitment.
Holding has played only once for the Eagles since signing for the Premier League side in 2023. He joins fellow Palace loanee Jesurun Rak-Sakyi at the Blades.
We've been light in the central defensive area ever since Harry Souttar's injury, so we're delighted to add Rob, a player who has played the game at the highest level for a number of years.
Nigerian winger Nwachukwu joins from Bulgarian top-flight team Botev Plovdiv for an undisclosed fee. The 19-year-old has signed on a contract until 2027.
We are discovering something new here and it may take time before we see some results, but we're open to the new methods.
