Several schools in south-west London were forced to close again due to a fire at a waste plant, which has raised significant air quality concerns.
Wandsworth Council stated, 'We have been in contact with head teachers since early this morning and are working to support their pupils and parents,' emphasizing their commitment to assist those affected.
Fire station commander Justin Randtoul noted the fire's 'significant impact on local communities' but assured that residents should see 'a significant reduction in the amount of smoke being produced' as efforts continue.
About 40 firefighters are tackling the fire, which involves removing 6,000 cubic metres of waste to extinguish deep-seated fire pockets, according to the fire brigade.
