At around 6:30pm yesterday, police were called to Penge High Street after reports of a group of shoplifters. An arrest was made but the suspect claimed to have ingested drugs, raising concerns for officers' safety.
Two police officers reported feeling unwell on their way to the hospital with the arrested man; concerns over a potential chemical exposure led to a large emergency response.
