Phone shop in Romford town centre could be split to welcome new beauty salon
Briefly

A planning application seeks to split 44 South Street in Romford, converting it into two commercial units: a beauty salon and a retail shop. Cell Tech Exchange, currently occupying the space, would reduce its footprint but benefit financially from lower rent. Each unit will have its own entrance with a design that maintains the shopfront's contemporary character. The new layout aims to ensure both businesses coexist harmoniously, preserving the structure's integrity while providing separate access points. This move reflects a broader shift in retail dynamics, addressing challenges posed by online competition.

Owner Amir Akbar said, 'Things are getting difficult on the high street due to online competitors so I am happy to move myself into the smaller premises meaning my rent can be reduced.'
