A person has died after being hit by a train at Slade Green Station in Erith this afternoon. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 1.15pm today (October 18), including officers from the British Transport Police and the London Fire Brigade.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: 'Officers were called to the line near Erith railway station at just after 1.15pm today (18 October) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.'
London Fire Brigade crews from Erith and Bexley fire stations also attended the scene after being called at 1.26pm. Firefighters worked alongside other emergency services to secure the area and ensure safety.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: 'Two fire engines and one Fire Rescue Unit are responding to an incident at Slade Green Railway Station in Erith. Firefighters are working to assist emergency service colleagues and make the scene safe.'
