A new Piccadilly line train, just arriving from Germany, was vandalised with graffiti in south-west London before its first test run, prompting police inquiries.
The vandalism occurred at Latchmere Junction around 06:45 BST, just hours after the train's arrival in the UK, reflecting ongoing issues with train security.
Transport for London confirmed the affected train has since been cleaned and driven to its depot, continuing the rollout of the new Siemens-manufactured fleet.
The new fleet of 94 fully air-conditioned trains will undergo rigorous testing before passenger introduction in late 2025, enhancing accessibility on the Underground.
