Camden Council is initiating the development of two hostels as part of its Community Investment Programme, aimed at alleviating London’s ongoing housing crisis. With around 175,000 people living in temporary accommodation in the city, the new hostels on Camden Road and Chester Road will provide 89 self-contained units, each equipped with kitchens and bathrooms. This approach aims to offer immediate support for individuals facing eviction or other sudden housing emergencies. Funded by a combination of government resources, the project is set for completion by summer 2026.
Our Community Investment Programme is not only helping to tackle the housing crisis by building more high-quality, family-sized homes, but we are also delivering better quality temporary accommodation.
Building more temporary accommodation is a crucial responsibility for Camden as we can help support those in desperate need of a safe place to stay until a more longer-term solution is allocated.
