Metropolitan Police officer arrested on suspicion of rape

A serving Metropolitan Police firearms officer has been arrested on suspicion of rape over offences alleged to have taken place between 2013 and last year.
The officer, an inspector in the Met's Specialist Firearms Command, was arrested on Monday, 24 June. He was bailed to return in mid-September, pending further enquiries.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) decided that the Metropolitan Police should continue with its investigation after the arrest of the officer.
