Met Police apologises to Stephen Lawrence's mother for breaking promise to answer questions over investigation

The Metropolitan Police has said sorry to the mother of Stephen Lawrence's mother for failing to fulfill a promise to answer questions stemming from a BBC investigation into the murder.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Ward... promised he would send over a written explanation about White and other issues. Two witnesses said White had confessed to being present during the attack.
Mr Ward eventually replied: 'I can offer no further consolation other than my professional embarrassment and personal regret.'
Stephen Lawrence was murdered by a group of five or six racist attackers in south-east London in 1993.
