"A man in his 30s has died after he was hit by a police car on an emergency call in south London. The pedestrian was struck by a marked vehicle at just after 12.30am on Wednesday. London Ambulance Service paramedics treated him, but he died at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, the force said."
"An IOPC spokesman said: We've begun an independent investigation into a fatal road traffic collision involving a Met Police vehicle overnight. We understand that the driver of a police vehicle has collided with a member of the public, who sadly died, on Borough High Street, Southwark, at around 12.30am. We were notified by the force and declared an independent investigation at around 4.20am. We have sent investigators to attend the scene and the police post incident procedure, to begin gathering evidence."
