The London Fire Brigade is now being called to help lift and rescue obese patients more than once a day on average, new data reveals.

The figures show firefighters were called 426 times to assist in lifting or rescuing overweight patients in 2023 - a near-fivefold increase on 2019's total of 88 calls.
