London borough threatens to clear Lime hire cycles from streets over abandoned e-bikes 'havoc'

Brent council has issued an ultimatum to Lime, demanding the removal of all its bikes or immediate safety improvements to address ongoing issues with abandoned e-bikes.

Council leader Muhammed Butt expressed concern that 'Lime bikes left scattered across our streets are causing havoc for other road users, especially for pedestrians and disabled people.'

Residents have expressed frustration with Lime, as the council faces repeated complaints about inconsiderately parked bikes obstructing paths and roads.

For the current bike-sharing scheme to be sustainable, the council emphasized the need for dedicated parking bays for the bikes to avoid unsustainable pressure on their resources.
