Just Stop Oil activists storm West End stage and stop show starring Sigourney Weaver
Briefly

Just Stop Oil activists staged a protest during a performance of The Tempest in London, highlighting the urgent need for government action against climate change. Activists voiced concerns about surpassing the 1.5-degree Celsius temperature rise, which could lead to catastrophic consequences for the planet. Protesters held a sign reading 'Over 1.5 Degrees is a Global Shipwreck.' They called for a global treaty to eliminate fossil fuel reliance by 2030. Participants expressed deep fears about the future impacts of climate change on their families and communities, citing extreme weather events as evidence of an urgent crisis.
One of the protesters, lecturer Hayley Walsh, 42, said: "I am scared for my children, I can't sleepwalk them into a future of food shortages, life-threatening storms and wars for resources. Years of writing to MPs, going on marches and teaching my students to be more sustainable, hasn't seen the urgent change needed."
Richard Weir, 60, who also took part in the protest, said: "I started my career in the shipyards of Tyneside and I watched management inaction lead to the collapse of UK manufacturing. Now I see similar failures of leadership as politicians refuse to take action to protect us and our loved ones."
