The portrait, a 1941 work by Yousouf Karsh titled 'The Roaring Lion', was stolen from the Fairmont Château Laurier Hotel in December 2021 without detection for six months.
Detective Akiva Gellar stated, 'We conducted a very extensive investigation that took more than two years to recover the portrait, as much remains sensitive due to court proceedings.'
