At around 9:32 am on October 7, two fire engines and about ten firefighters responded to a house fire on Westmead Road in Sutton, where a gas main was ruptured during renovations.
Flames had partially engulfed the two-storey house under renovation. Firefighters acted quickly to isolate the gas supply, preventing further damage and ensuring safety.
Traffic on Westmead Road was heavily affected, as the area was blocked in both directions due to the ongoing emergency, highlighting the impact of the incident on the community.
The fire was effectively brought under control by 12:10 pm. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, showcasing the efficient response by the fire service.
