Once, after I lamented our lack of social activity as a couple, he pondered it for a few days and told me we were going out. Feeling excited, I dressed up nicely and we bundled into the car. I had no idea where we were going—perhaps a nice wine bar? It turned out Jeremy's idea of a social outing was to drive me to Highgate cemetery and proudly show me the tomb of Karl Marx.
He suggested we see some rats. Twenty years ago I was working as an investment banking lawyer in London when I met a guy while speed-dating... After a couple of dates in bars and restaurants, he invited me to visit where he lived... He responded by offering me two choices. We could do a survey on the high street about the state of Britain's high streets, or we could see the rats at Valentines Park. I thought he was joking.
I started talking with a very beautiful, tall Dutch man online... It turned out to be about the graphic design of North Korean propaganda. It was a very interesting and vibrant date, but I couldn't help thinking how unexpected and unusual it was.
