As temperatures fall, Wandsworth's fleet and staff are ready to tackle ice on 230 miles of roads and 450 miles of pavements, a challenging task.
The council has designated 55 grit bins around hilly areas, ensuring immediate grit supplies to residents for keeping pavements safe during icy conditions.
Residents can collect their free 50 kilos of grit on specified dates, needing proof of address to benefit from this community support initiative.
