King Charles has presented the first Elizabeth Emblems, recognising public servants such as police and fire fighters who died in the line of duty, with families receiving overdue recognition.
The design of the award includes a rosemary wreath, a traditional symbol of remembrance, and the inscription: 'For A Life Given In Service', celebrating the sacrifices made.
The ceremony honored over 30 individuals, with impressive legacies, including Leslie Marsh, who died in 1949, and represented a long-awaited tribute to their families.
Bryn Hughes, who campaigned for recognition of his murdered daughter and others, reflected on the emotional importance of finally honoring those who served and sacrificed.
