London Fire Brigade (LFB) expressed alarm over the structural risks posed by a proposed basement electric vehicle depot, calling the planned development a 'ticking time bomb' for nearby residents.
Ballymore confirmed that no electric vehicles would be allowed in the proposed high-rise development until it received approval from all relevant authorities, addressing safety concerns raised.
The LFB’s letter to Barnet Council highlighted the importance of considering the entire development plan, indicating that the fire risk is tied to the structural integrity of the buildings above.
Despite Ballymore's plans for a community hub, the project has faced substantial opposition, with nearly 2,000 objections lodged since the outline planning application was submitted in July.
