English Heritage asks public for help to recover London's lost' plaques
Briefly

The first commemorative blue plaque was awarded in 1867 to poet Lord Byron, but it was lost when the house was demolished in 1889. Today, that site houses a John Lewis.
English Heritage is seeking the public's help to locate as many as 50 missing blue plaques, including those commemorating significant historical figures such as David Wilkie and John Milton.
The charity emphasizes that many plaques went missing due to war damage or modern renovations, especially during the architectural changes of the 20th century.
In addition to the search, English Heritage announced the installation of a new plaque for surgeon Joseph Lister, whose original commemorative plaque disappeared during building work in 2017.
