The find of a cannon from the 17th-century ship the London provides new insights into the ship's explosion and its split into two parts on the seabed.
The cannon discovered is believed to be a Commonwealth medium-sized Demi-cannon that was part of a set made for the London, which was one of four English naval ships with a full complement of 76 bronze cannons.
Each gun carriage was unique on the London, with cannons sourced from different countries and periods, highlighting the scarcity and expense of large cannons during that time.
