Network Rail has traced the fault with their GSM-R railway radio system to a major hub near Stoke, and a fix is underway.
Delays and cancellations are affecting mainline railways mainly across the southeast of England due to a communication fault between train drivers and signallers.
The issues are mostly impacting trains leaving depots to start their services, but delays should reduce later as trains operate normally once underway.
Affected services include South Western Railway, Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern, Southeastern, and Thameslink, with possible alterations to schedules.
