Iya Patarkatsishvili and her husband Dr Yevhen Hunyak faced a significant issue after purchasing a London mansion, which they later discovered was infested with moths, ruining clothes and wine. They took legal action against the seller, William Woodward-Fisher, citing false disclosures about the property's condition. The court ruled that Woodward-Fisher had indeed misrepresented the state of the home. As a result, the sale was rescinded, and he was ordered to refund the purchase price and pay additional damages for the ruined items, reflecting the couple's distress over the infestation.
Hunyak described how the infestation took over their lives, revealing that moths landed on their children's cutlery and toothbrushes. Daily, he swatted dozens of pests.
The couple's attorney emphasized that Woodward-Fisher, the seller, misrepresented the property's state and concealed the extent of the infestation they encountered.
