Yussuf Mohamed Mire, 35, was sentenced to 12 months for dangerous driving after he accelerated towards police officers trying to assist him, colliding with them.
The incident occurred early on January 1, 2023, when officers attempted to check on Mire, who appeared intoxicated inside his car, leading to a dangerous chase.
Despite significant risks to pedestrians, Mire mounted the pavement, executed a U-turn, and reversed into officers, ultimately fleeing the scene before being apprehended.
Mire was disqualified from driving for 18 months in addition to his jail sentence. Fortunately, the officers involved did not sustain serious injuries.
