Campaign to save the first ever YMCA in London taken to High Court
Briefly

In a significant legal battle, Patrick Joy, a retired postman and member of the Central YMCA in London, has applied for an injunction at the High Court to prevent the facility from closing. With the YMCA set to shut down due to its sale to Criterion Capital Limited, Joy, who relies on the venue for managing health issues like arthritis and diabetes, argues that its closure will burden the NHS. The Save the Central YMCA campaign has garnered support, emphasizing the community health benefits the gym provides.
The loss of this facility will just put pressure back on the NHS. The poor people will have to join a long queue again, rather than using the facilities at the YMCA.
This action has been taken by a 74-year-old who depends on the Central YMCA for health reasons. While he has taken on this decision independently, and not a part of the campaign group, we salute his courage in taking on a multi-billion pound company.
