Major disruptions to train services between London Paddington and both Heathrow Airport and Reading have been caused by a broken rail and a shortage of signalling staff.
National Rail's passenger information website indicated that Elizabeth line, Great Western Railway, and Heathrow Express services are all significantly affected, with disruptions expected until Tuesday.
The broken rail was discovered on the high-speed line towards Paddington from the Slough and Heathrow area, limiting train speeds and causing a cascade of delays.
Network Rail issued an apology to passengers for the inconvenience, confirming that engineers will monitor the situation to ensure safe travel until the rail can be replaced.
