British Museum given its most valuable gift ever
Briefly

The British Museum is to receive what is believed to be the highest-value gift ever received by a UK museum with the acquisition of 1bn worth of Chinese ceramics.
Dr. Nicholas Cullinan stated that these celebrated objects add a special dimension to the museum’s collection, providing an incredible opportunity for scholars and visitors to study Chinese craftsmanship.
Trustees from the Sir Percival David Foundation expressed that the late businessman had intended for his collection to inform and inspire people, which this donation continues to fulfill.
The donation increases the British Museum's collection of Chinese ceramics to 10,000 pieces, making it one of the most significant collections outside the Chinese-speaking world.
