Geotab has warned that the new toll could lead to intensified traffic jams in central London, as it may push drivers to find alternative routes to avoid charges.
Analysing data from over 16,000 commercial vehicles, Geotab noted that more than 5,500 trips were rerouted through central London to dodge Blackwall tunnel closure disruptions.
Aaron Jarvis from Geotab cautioned that a toll on the Blackwall Tunnel could exacerbate traffic issues, indicating potential harm to local communities and air quality.
Transport for London reassured that the Silvertown Tunnel will alleviate congestion and manage air pollution, aiming to enhance the overall cross-river road network.
