Fire crews responded to a fully engulfed detached home on Madras Crescent near Ellesmere and Scarborough Golf Club Road at about 4:10 p.m. Two people living in the residence were taken to hospital for observation. At least three dogs were rescued, while three dogs are unaccounted for and believed to be running around the neighbourhood. By 7:30 p.m. the fire was not yet declared fully out, and crews planned to monitor hot spots for the next 24 hours. The fire’s cause, described as “stubborn,” is under investigation, and the Toronto Humane Society was notified.
