The Hornsey Street Reuse and Recycling Centre was temporarily closed following a fire caused by five car batteries igniting, leading to the evacuation of around 50 people.
The North London Waste Authority reported that the fire, deemed small, prompted a rapid response from the London Fire Brigade, who dispatched two engines and a rescue unit.
Fire crews were still present at the scene well after the incident occurred, showcasing the authorities' commitment to ensuring safety and preventing any further issues.
The authority stated via social media that they are actively working to reopen the recycling center as soon as it is safe to do so.
