Liverpool have spoken with Ligue 1 manager Paulo Fonseca as a replacement for Klopp. Fonseca had impressive stints with Lille, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Porto.
Fonseca, with over 670 games since 2007, was sought by other clubs like Newcastle and Tottenham. Unclear if Liverpool will formalize interest.
Xabi Alonso, the initial frontrunner to replace Klopp, chose to stay at Bayer Leverkusen after Bundesliga success and Champions League qualification.
