Liverpool's title stumble shows strength of Premier League, not its weakness | Barney Ronay
Briefly

Fulham's surprising 3-2 victory against Liverpool prompted discussions about the latter's title aspirations and overall worthiness as champions. While Fulham, positioned 10th in the league, showcased their strength, Liverpool's inconsistent performance highlighted their struggles. Despite the defeat, Liverpool remains 11 points clear in the league, yet this game fueled debates about their legitimacy as champions amidst an otherwise easy season. The match, held at picturesque Craven Cottage, exemplified the unpredictable nature of football, where outcomes can shift perceptions regardless of statistics.
Something like that anyway. Tell you what though. Fulham are good aren't they? And particularly so, it should be said, for a team that started the day 10th in an apparently mediocre league.
Since the start of March Liverpool's progress towards the league title has been expressed in a run of routine almost-there wins...a trip to Fulham in the gentle sun had looked like another edge along that route.
But defeat will at least give fuel to the energetically pursued discussion around Liverpool's season, the debate about worthiness and deserved success.
This game was also a nowin situation, in a very modern, very online kind of way. Win at Craven Cottage and this would become yet another sign the league is a walkover.
