Speaking on his departure, Klopp said: 'If I carry on, these guys and others will say 'he's been there too long.' You have to be the spark. I love the squad. There is so much potential.'
Klopp remains the only coach to dethrone Pep Guardiola since he first won the Premier League with City in 2018.
Liverpool were contending for the title until the final weeks but fell behind Arsenal and eventual champions Manchester City.
