Chelsea Women's team maintained their unbeaten run in the Women's Super League with a 1-1 draw against Brighton. Lauren James scored an equalizer in the 61st minute, but her goal was contentious due to an offside position. Chelsea initially led through Sandy Baltimore's goal, but Brighton reversed the lead before half-time. This draw marks Chelsea's second dropped point this season, reducing their lead at the top of the league to five points as Manchester United continues its winning streak.
Brighton can consider themselves unfortunate, too, as James' goal should not have stood - the England international was in an offside position when Mayra Ramirez took a shot.
"I felt we might fall off a little bit in the second half because we have only had two days to prepare for international duty," said United manager Marc Skinner.
Chelsea's lead at the top has been cut to five points, with Manchester United having defeated Leicester City 2-0 in the early game.
James took her chance when it came, but Chelsea could not build on it, and were perhaps fortunate not to concede a penalty when Ramirez appeared to push a Brighton attacker.
