Liverpool's manager, Arne Slot, expressed admiration for Paris Saint-Germain ahead of their Champions League clash. While Slot acknowledged PSG's impressive record, he preferred to face Benfica in the round of 16. Despite PSG's recent form, including ten victories and 40 goals scored, Slot emphasized the need for Liverpool to perform at their best to succeed against such a strong opponent. He also noted that Real Madrid remains the best team in Europe due to their success in the Champions League, insisting Liverpool must achieve that status themselves first.
"We would have preferred to play against Benfica instead of PSG," Slot admitted before the two European giants face off in Paris.
"PSG are one of the best teams in Europe, with so much attacking threat and so much rotation. It will be an interesting game."
"It's a nice compliment to get but the best team in Europe has to win the Champions League and we are far away from that," Liverpool's manager insisted.
"I think the best team in Europe is still Real Madrid because they won this competition last season. For us, we have to win it before you can say this."
