Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia revealed he was coerced to sign a letter recognizing Nicolas Maduro as president, to secure his departure for asylum in Spain.
Gonzalez described his predicament, stating, 'I had to either sign it or deal with the consequences,' highlighting the intense pressure and coercion faced.
The situation unfolded as Gonzalez was in the Spanish embassy, where allies of Maduro delivered the document under duress before he fled to Spain.
Despite Jorge Rodriguez’s claims that Gonzalez signed willingly, the opposition leader maintains he was forced to do so under threat of imprisonment.
