New research highlights the differences in values between vegetarians and meat-eaters. Among over 3,500 participants from Poland and the United States, vegetarians displayed a tendency towards personal ambition and seeking power, aligning with values that elevate social status. In contrast, meat-eaters were more inclined towards traditional values emphasizing conformity and benevolence towards others. The study's lead researcher, Professor John Nezlek, noted a long-standing link between meat consumption and masculinity, alongside the observation that vegetarianism is more common among women than men.
Vegetarians tend to seek power and achievements more than meat-eaters, suggesting they align with values that enhance social status.
Research shows vegetarians are more independent-thinking, while meat-eaters embrace values like tradition, conformity, and benevolence towards others.
